Should I declare IBS on my travel insurance?

IBS is a pre-existing medical condition and it’s important to declare it on your travel insurance.

With proper insurance, you can be rest assured that you have a helping hand available if the worst happens. We like to do things right. This may be a reason as to why we were voted the Most Trusted Travel Insurance Provider of 2018.*

So, when travelling with irritable bowel syndrome, it makes sense to have good quality cover in place.

From a stolen passport to a medical emergency, having the right travel insurance makes sure you’re covered in the worst of times.

Claiming on your travel insurance is more common than you might think, with 1 in 20 people needing to claim on their Annual Travel Insurance in 2018.**

We like to do things the right way and we’re sure you do too. It’s better to be safe than sorry. So, if you declare and need to claim because of (directly or indirectly) your IBS, you’ll be covered.

It’s really important to declare all conditions that you have – even if you think they aren’t important or that you won’t need to claim.

Should I declare my pre-existing medical conditions on my travel insurance?

It’s important you declare Irritable Bowel Syndrome and any other pre-existing medical condition you may have, when taking out a policy with us.

You can declare your medical condition through our online medical screening process, which is a straightforward set of questions for us to understand how your medical conditions affect you. Or, if you prefer, you can complete the medical screening over the phone.

It’s important that all pre-existing conditions are declared on your medical travel insurance policy. This will avoid large medical bills if you need treatment in another country. Failure to disclose any pre-existing medical conditions may affect the validity of your policy should you need to claim.
