How often can I travel with a year-long policy?
Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance policies cover your travel plans for a whole year.
You can take an unlimited number of trips as long as you don’t spend more than 183 days in total abroad during the year.
Each trip you take must not be longer than:
- 50 days if you are aged 70 or below. You can increase your trip duration limit to 100 days (for one trip) by paying an additional premium
- 35 days if you are aged 71-85
If you have questions about these or any other aspects of our insurance, please contact our customer service team on 0800 033 4902.
Who can be covered?
For our yearly policies, you can add the whole family from newborns up to the age of 85.
When booking as a couple or family, you could find it’s cheaper to book together. Families and couples living at the same address often get an automatic discount applied. So it’s better to book together than to buy individual policies.
If a family member on your policy falls ill, then you’re also more protected from having to change your plans. When insured individually, you may not be covered.
Having the right insurance means that you and your family are covered properly.
Do I need to declare my medical conditions?
We consider all pre-existing medical conditions.
If you choose not to declare a condition you may have — or not to cover it — then you could find that your insurance is invalid if something does happen that could be related to your condition.
With one in 20 people who purchased an Annual Multi-Trip policy in 2017 claiming on their insurance†, it’s best to make sure you’re covered.
You can add conditions to tailor your policy through our simple online medical screening or by talking to us on 0800 033 4902.
What about EHIC?
Having a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is useful if you’re travelling around Europe. We ask that you have an EHIC as it could allow you to have significantly reduced healthcare costs when abroad.
If you’ve had to use your EHIC and need to claim, we’ll waive the excess that you’d normally have to pay on medical claims.
Although having an EHIC is a really important thing to have in place before you go on holiday, it’s not a replacement for good holiday insurance.
It won’t be able to cover cancellations, loss of baggage or any other non-medical related claims.
Where can I travel to?
When it comes to our Multi-Trip policy, you can choose between four regions to cover different locations you could be going on holiday to in the next year.
Region 1: UK & Europe, excluding Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Malta Morocco, Spain, Turkey and Tunisia
Region 2: Includes all of Europe – including those excluded in region 1
Region 3: Worldwide excluding Bermuda, Canada, the islands of the Caribbean, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, Thailand, and the United States of America
Region 4: All countries
The only countries or areas we cannot provide cover to visit are where either the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) or the World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised against travel at the time of purchase.
If you bought your policy before the FCO/WHO advice was issued, you will be covered.
What does our travel insurance cover?
If you’re under 71 and buy a comprehensive Annual Multi-Trip policy, we’ll include a free upgrade to winter sports cover.

You can choose to boost your policy in a number of areas for your policy including:
Upgrading your cancellation cover:
Our basic policy will cover you up to £500 as standard, but this can be boosted to £3,000.
Comprehensive policies can be upgraded from £5,000 to £15,000 subject to further underwriting criteria.
Adding travel disruption extension:
This extra cover provides peace of mind if you want to cancel or cut your holiday short on the advice of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office or World Health Organisation.
It also covers additional overseas accommodation and repatriation in the event of terrorist events and natural disasters that affect your accomodation or resort.
With our comprehensive level cover, you have even more choice:
Add an excess waiver: to not pay the £65 excess on comprehensive policies if you have to claim.
Add car hire excess waiver: Covers the cost of the excess in the event you make a claim for your car hire agreement and includes keys, misfuelling, roadside and towing and emergency accommodation.
Add gadget cover: covers gadgets while on holiday up to £1000.
Add golf travel insurance: cover for equipment, green fees and hole in ones.
Add cruise travel insurance: cover for cruise related claims such as missed port departures and cabin confinement.
